 The Save Kurinji Campaign Council, Trivandrum, is observing 2006 as theYear of Kurinji. The objective is to introduce the public to the legendary plant and propagate the message for conservation of its habitat.It organised a campaign jatha from Kodaikanal to Munnar in May 2006 and held exhibitions both at Kodai and Munnar. The orgnaisation is demanding that the kurinji hills between Kodaikanal and Munnar should be declared a protected sanctuary. The Council had begun the campaign nearly two decades ago. |
