Kurinji in bloom near MunnarIn celebration of kurinji

TRIVANDRUM: It will be three days of festivities at Munnar in celebration of kurinji.

The kurinji festival, being organised by the Forest Department from October 7 to 9, 2006, will feature cultural programmes and a photo exhibition.

Photographs of gregarious flowering of kurinji taken by Rajkumar, Rajan and Sobhendran will be on display. The festival will also feature functions and other programmes to be attended by people’s representatives to create awareness about conservation of kurinji.

 A declaration on formation of kurinjimala sanctuary is also expected on the occasion. The programme will be part of the Wildlife Week Celebrations in the State.
