Kurinji bloom may visit Munnar town
knollThat is, 11 years from now.
MUNNAR, April 19, 2007: The Forest Department is planning to seed one of the knolls in the town with kurinji seeds collected during the last season.

This would be sown on the meadow above mosque in Munnar before monsoon. It is hoped that the plant would grow and mature on the meadow. In that case, the town will have a mount full of kurinji during the next season.

Though Munnar was known for kurinji flowers, the plant as such did not occur in the town areas. The nearest habitat is more than 15 km away from the town.
