Biodiversity India National Exhibition

KOZHIKODE, February 13, 2008: The Malabar Natural History Society, Kozhikode, and Save Kurinji Campaign Council, Trivandrum, jointly sponsored a stall at the five-day Biodiversity India National Exhibition in Kozhikode that concluded here today.

Pictures of kurinji in bloom, taken during the past two seasons, and posters were on display. The special issue of Malabar Trogon, published by the Society, was also available at the stall.

The exhibition was organised in connection with the opening up of the Malabar Botanical Garden to the public. Chief Minister V. S.Achuthanandan was the chief guest at the inaugural held on February 8, 2008.

The exhibition featured stalls by about 50 government organisations such as the Zoological Survey of India and Botanical Survey of India besides that on Kurinji. The items on display included specimens of animals and plants, medicinal plants, photographs and other material describing the biodiversity of India.
